At G&L Staircases, we have taken the classic Butchers’ Block and created a high-quality and hardwearing worktop to suit the modern kitchen environment. Created by fusing together the end pieces of wood staves into a checkerboard pattern, the end grain of the wood is considered the strongest and most durable part of it and have a real depth to it’s pattern and colour. They can also be sanded to produce a beautifully smooth and clean surface.
We offer a complete bespoke service for worktops of almost any shape and size, with customisation options for sink and hob cut-outs or different edging and corner styles. These end grain worktops could be used on their own or in addition to materials such as granite and quartz to soften the look of your kitchen with its unique patterns. If you have specific wooden worktop sizes or shape requirements you would like to discuss, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
If you ask any reputable butcher, he or she will tell you that the best surface for chopping meat is an old-fashioned end-grain butchers’ block as they are naturally anti-bacterial and incredibly strong and durable. Our butchers’ blocks come in a standard size but bespoke sizes could be made on request.
